AUGUSTA, Ga. (Newsroom) – A man from Augusta has been handed a life sentence without the possibility of parole after a jury convicted him on several domestic violence charges, the District Attorney’s Office revealed on Thursday.
District Attorney Jared Williams reported that Jameel Thomson, 45, faced trial this week for a series of violent incidents involving his romantic partner. These included a brutal beating on March 16, 2021, and a kidnapping and shooting on August 8, 2022.
The victim suffered severe injuries, with the 2021 assault resulting in a broken orbital eye bone. In the 2022 incident, Thomson shot her in the shoulder, shattering her clavicle.
Thomson was convicted on multiple counts, such as Kidnapping with Bodily Injury, Home Invasion, Hijacking a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Battery-Family Violence, and Aggravated Assault-Family Violence. On October 30, he received a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
