AUGUSTA, Ga ()- Authorities in Richmond County are on the hunt for a suspect involved in an aggravated assault incident following the shooting of a woman.

The incident unfolded on Sunday evening, shortly before 8 p.m., on Bennock Mill Road.

Deputies arrived at the scene in response to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they interviewed multiple individuals who were inside the home when gunshots rang out from outside.

Once the gunfire ceased, it was discovered that a 60-year-old woman inside the residence had been struck by one of the bullets.

Emergency services from Central EMS promptly arrived and transported the woman to Wellstar for medical care. Details regarding her identity and current condition remain undisclosed.

The shooting is still under investigation and there is no word about any suspects at this time.
