AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office located and and arrested a man who is accused of shooting his stepfather.

The incident happened in 2023 in the Southgate Shopping Center on Gordon Highway.

Jaquan Lewis, now 20-year-old, was found in South Carolina.

Reports say that Lewis shot his stepfather in the chest in February 2023 and he’s been wanted by law enforcement ever since. Lewis was 17-years-old at the time of the shooting.

Lewis’ 38-year-old stepfather was found on the ground in the alleyway between City Gear and Citi Trends by Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Deputies. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and was struggling to breath when RCSO Deputies arrived on the scene.

Four (4) 9mm shell casings were recovered at the scene, according to an incident report filed in the case.

Lewis is now booked at the Richmond County Jail. He is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault (Family-Gun), one count of Possession of Firearm or Knife During Crime, and two counts of Simple Battery Family Violence.
