COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. () – Augusta Technical College and Columbia County Fire Rescue announced a partnership to provide its firefighters an opportunity to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire & Emergency Services Occupation.

According to the college on Monday, this program is designed specifically for current Columbia County Fire Rescue employees, which will allow them to enhance their capabilities and strengthen the department.

“This opportunity reflects our commitment to growing from within,” said Fire Chief Jeremy Wallen. “By investing in the continued education of our firefighters, we’re not only building a stronger department—we’re also ensuring that Columbia County continues to receive top-tier fire and emergency medical services from highly trained professionals.”

“We are proud to collaborate with Columbia County Fire Rescue in creating a pathway that empowers their firefighters to grow professionally while continuing to serve the citizens of Columbia County with excellence,” said Interim President Dr. Melissa Frank-Alston.

The announcement of Augusta Tech’s partnership with Columbia County Fire Rescue comes as the college debuted its degree program partnership with Augusta Fire Department last month.
