AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Augusta Video Game Exposition made its debut on March 22 at the Elks Lodge, and it was a big success.

On this edition of “Your Hometown Road Trip,” the team stopped by and spoke with Organizer and Founder, David Bryant about the event, and what people can expect from the future.

What was this event all about?

“We did the Augusta Video Game Expedition back in March. We had over a thousand people come through the doors of that tiny event space. We had a lot of folks there, all sorts of games, all sorts of systems. We had people dealing in Pokémon, we had people who had 3D prints, we had food trucks, we had a wonderful time.”

What made you decide to do this?

“I’d done shows for about a year leading up to this point, and so I got the convention bug. We have Dead Media here but we don’t have anything dedicated, so we’re always thankful that Dead Media carries all this stuff that they have, but we don’t have anything dedicated to the gaming community, so we wanted to do something for the video game community at large. We also wanted to show love to our other folks who are in to trading card games, or comics or 3d prints, anything that happens in that pop culture gaming space.”

How does it make you feel that this was so successful?

“We were planning for three or four hundred people. We we’re counting people in and out and at some point if we’ve got so many people in here, we got to cut people off from walking in because of fire codes and all sorts of other stuff, so we we’re overwhelmed by the response. They were happy to have something that represented them, they were happy to have an event that wasn’t going to cost an arm and a leg to get in, because our first event was free. We really enjoyed interacting with our vendors, our small businesses, our artists, our organizers our staff.”

With the success of this year’s event, you have an announcement.

“We have more coming next year. The 2026 Augusta Video Game Exposition is happening on March 21st, and we’re moving to the Double Tree on Perimeter Parkway.”

What can people expect?

“A lot of the same. We have some big announcements for people who are Mortal Kombat fans, so look for some special guest announcements. Follow our Facebook pages, we have a new website being built, we are selling tickets this year, tickets are only 5 dollars for general admission, and 10 for VIP.”
