AUGUSTA, Ga. – Authorities in Richmond County are currently on the lookout for a woman wanted in connection with a disturbing case involving a young child. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has issued felony warrants for 45-year-old Sydnie Yilmaz, who is facing charges of Cruelty to Children in the First Degree. She is often seen in the vicinity of Telfair Street.

The investigation began following an incident at the Wellstar Golisano Children’s Hospital of Georgia. On Tuesday, officials were called to the hospital after a child under the age of one experienced seizures the previous night. Medical professionals conducted a toxicology test, which shockingly revealed the presence of amphetamines in the child’s system.

The incident report sheds light on the circumstances leading up to the medical emergency. Sydnie Yilmaz reportedly told hospital staff that she had prepared a nighttime bottle for the child using standard formula mixed with water she had found on the fireplace. She noted that shortly after feeding the child, their behavior seemed unusual. In an attempt to understand the cause, Yilmaz tasted the formula herself and remarked that it had a peculiar flavor.

The report states medical staff conducted a toxicology test and results revealed the child tested positive for amphetamines.

“Before leaving the hospital, Sydnie advised night staff that she had made (child) a night time bottle using standard formula and a bottle of water she found atop the fireplace,” the report reads in part. “Sydnie stated she noticed shortly after (child’s) behavior to be odd, she then consumed some of the bottled formula herself and it tasted ‘funny.’”

An individual present with Yilmaz called EMS who responded to the scene, transporting her and the child to the hospital.

Anyone who has information on Sydnie Yilmaz is asked to contact Inv. Boshna Williams at (706) 821-1456, or any On-Duty Violent Crimes Investigator at (706) 821-1020 or (706) 821-1080.
