CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — On Monday morning, authorities were dispatched to Eastern Illinois University after a report of an armed individual on the premises.

The university issued an emergency alert to its community at 9:26 a.m., indicating that a report had been made about a person carrying a weapon. In a subsequent alert, it was noted that law enforcement had conducted thorough checks of campus buildings and examined surveillance videos but found no one fitting the description.
