Two injured, one sustains life-threatening injuries in Decatur crash

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — One shot was fired early Saturday morning across the street from Millikin University after police responded to a fight.

According to Sgt. Closen with the Decatur Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 2 a.m. to 1093 W Main St., The Winery Bar, for the report of a fight. The bar is located less than a block from the Millikin University campus. When the fight was already broken up, an unknown individual fired off one round.

Nobody was hurt or struck by the shot fired, but Decatur Police said this investigation remains ongoing as no arrests have been made.

At approximately 2:31 a.m., Millikin University put out an Urgent MU Alert that said the following: “Possible shots fired at Oakland and Main, avoid area or prepare to run, hide, fight as necessary. DPD on scene.”

The supervisor on scene cleared the area at approximately 2:50 a.m. and all other officers on scene cleared before 3 a.m.
