In Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the National Park Service has launched an investigation into a troubling incident of illegal deer poaching within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Authorities are actively seeking assistance from the public to identify a suspect involved in this case.

The unfortunate poaching took place in the scenic fields near Sparks Lane in Cades Cove. Park rangers received reports indicating that a deer was shot with an arrow, a brazen act believed to have occurred during daylight hours on Monday, December 22. This incident unfolded while visitors were present in the area, heightening concerns about safety and wildlife protection.

The National Park Service is appealing to anyone who might have been in the vicinity of Sparks Lane on that morning, specifically before 9 a.m., to come forward. Individuals who possess dashcam footage from their travels into or out of Cades Cove, or who have any pertinent information, are encouraged to help with the investigation. Importantly, tips can be provided anonymously, ensuring confidentiality for those who wish to assist.
