ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. () — A $10,000 reward has been offered to any person or group that provides information that leads to the arrest of the Willie’s Bar & Grill shooter.
On a social media post, Christopher Gibbs, attorney and founder of The Gibbs Law Firm, LLC, said the firm would offer a one-time $10,000 reward to any individual or group that comes forward with information that leads to the arrest of the Willie’s Bar & Grill shooter within the next 24 hours—time that would expire at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13.
“Enough is enough! It’s time for black people to understand that screaming “Black Lives Matter” and demanding accountability shouldn’t only occur when a white police officer kills a black man,” Gibbs said on the post that has since gathered over 500 reactions.
Gibbs also said he would support any politician who “puts in serious efforts” to pass a state legislation that prosecutes similar crimes as hate crimes, facing harsher sentencing.
“If you’re a black person shooting into a crowd at a venue full of black people, it is clear you hate black people,” the post reads.
The attorney also said that the reward would be in coordination with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). However, after News 3 reached out to officials and a spokesperson said they “are not aware with any affiliation with the Sheriff’s Office”.
