COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Columbus community is grieving the untimely death of a beloved Shaw High School alumnus and popular TikTok creator.

Marquay Collins, who was widely recognized by his TikTok handle “MarquayTheGoat,” tragically passed away at the age of 24 on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by Muscogee County coroner Buddy Bryan to WRBL News 3.

Coroner Bryan reported that Collins had been involved in a car accident in Atlanta earlier this month. Although he was admitted to the hospital, he was discharged the same day. In the days leading up to his death, Collins reportedly experienced distressing symptoms, including headaches, shortness of breath, and pain in his neck, shoulder, and spine, which he had shared with his brother.

Collins, who graduated from Shaw High School in May 2019, had amassed a significant following on TikTok, boasting 7 million followers who admired his engaging content.

The circumstances surrounding his death are currently classified as undetermined, pending further investigation. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Decatur to shed light on this tragic loss.
