Bement Faces Water Crisis: Boil Order Enforced After Major Water Main Break

A water main break in Bement, Illinois, has prompted authorities to issue a boil order for the village, leaving residents without running water as of Saturday morning.

In an announcement made at 7:45 a.m. on December 6, ERH Enterprises, Inc revealed that the entire Village of Bement is under a boil order due to the breakage. By 10:01 a.m., a spokesperson from ERH Enterprises confirmed that the village was still without running water, though efforts to restore service were underway, with expectations of resumption shortly.

The spokesperson clarified that the boil order will remain in effect until laboratory testing confirms the water is safe from contamination. The lifting of the order is dependent on the completion of these tests, which could occur by either Sunday or Tuesday.
