SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Bethesda Academy football team is off to a 2-0 start for the third time in four years.

The Blazers’ offense has produced impressive numbers over the first two contests. Bethesda’s offense averages over 51 points a game.

Sophomore quarterback Jordan Turner added about 15 pounds of muscle, according to Head Coach Antwain Turner. He really benefited from a good offseason.

Equally impressive early in the season is Bethesda’s defense. The first week they went against Hilton Head Christian, a team that operates a spread offense. Then the next week they went against a polar opposite offense in John Paul II, who runs the option.

“Got to get pressure on the quarterback,” Coach Turner. “But if you get pressure on the quarterback, he’s going to be he’s elusive. He can get out of the pocket. And so we gave up 28 points, but that was more so towards the second half. They’re really trying to make a run and our defense has really done a really good job.”

“[This season is] just going great,” junior Ian Platts said. “I’m glad me and my teammates can keep working and keep getting [progressively better] over the season.”
