TOOMBS COUNTY, Ga. – Residents of Toombs County are being cautioned by Altamaha EMC about a fraudulent scheme exploiting the company’s name.

Reports have surfaced of impostors going door-to-door in the area, falsely claiming to be representatives of Altamaha EMC. These scammers are misleading residents by asserting that the utility company lacks sufficient power generation and urging them to install solar panels to avoid power outages.

Altamaha EMC has categorically denied these claims, emphasizing that they have not sanctioned any such door-to-door activities. The company reassures its customers that there is no shortage in power generation.

To help identify potential scams, Altamaha EMC advises customers to be vigilant:

  • Altamaha EMC employees carry proper identification.
  • Altamaha EMC will never pressure you to purchase solar panels or any other product.
  • Altamaha EMC does not send representatives door-to-door to make claims about power shortages.

If approached with such claims, refrain from giving out personal or financial details. Do not sign any paperwork they offer. Instead, immediately report the incident to Altamaha EMC’s offices.
