BLUFFTON, S.C. — The Independence Day festivities commenced in Bluffton, marked by the unveiling of a new flag ceremony on Thursday.
This event was orchestrated by the Sons of the American Revolution, honoring the nation’s historic origins and Bluffton’s connection to the Revolutionary War period. Additionally, the town was awarded a certificate as a testament to its reverence for the American Flag.
Bluffton Police Chief Joseph Babkiewicz expressed that the flag is held in high esteem on all municipal properties.
“We position the flag prominently, ensuring it flies above all others,” Babkiewicz stated. “Furthermore, we observe protocol by lowering it to half-staff during specific occasions.”
Thursday evening will feature a variety of activities, including a 5K run, live music, and a drone light show at New Riverside barn. On Saturday, a pre-fireworks gathering is scheduled from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Martin Family Park, with the fireworks display slated to begin at 9:15 p.m. at Oyster Factory Park.
