SAVANNAH, Ga — Good evening, I’m StormTeam 3 Meteorologist Alysa Carsley, and I’m here to help make your Saturday night fantastic!
Valentine’s Day treated us to ample sunshine and pleasantly cool temperatures in the mid-60s. As night falls, expect clouds to gather in anticipation of a storm system set to arrive on Sunday. There’s a slight possibility of isolated showers cropping up by tomorrow morning.
STORMY SUNDAY
These scattered showers might linger through Sunday morning, with a cold front expected to approach later in the day. By mid-afternoon, a band of heavy rain, accompanied by potentially stronger storms, will begin impacting our inland areas. This weather pattern will gradually move toward the coast throughout the evening, eventually clearing the area late Sunday night. The most significant rainfall is likely from late afternoon into the night as the cold front passes, with potential totals reaching up to an inch.

As the cold front advances, there’s a minor risk that some isolated storms could intensify into severe weather. With spring’s severe weather season on the horizon, it’s wise to stay alert. Fortunately, this system is expected to weaken as it travels eastward across the southeast, losing some intensity by the time it reaches us. The primary concerns include damaging wind gusts and a slight risk of a brief spin-up tornado.
Overnight, the rain linked to the front should diminish. However, lingering showers around the low-pressure system may persist into Monday morning.
NEXT WEEK
Behind the cold front, we are tracking a partly cloudy sky each day next week. Temperatures will quickly warm up through the work week with highs on Monday in the upper 60s to the upper 70s by Thursday and Friday. Rain showers are possible at the end of the week.
