SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Prepare for a mild Sunday marked by sporadic showers before an intense cold snap sweeps in.
Saturday offered warm, mostly sunny conditions with temperatures reaching the low 70s across the region. As Sunday begins, expect mild weather with lows around the 50s. Anticipate increasing cloud cover as the day progresses, heralding the arrival of a cold front. There is a 20% likelihood of brief morning showers.

Though temperatures will rise into the 60s, expect breezy conditions once the front passes through. As drier air settles in and the sun sets, temperatures will dip sharply, reaching perilously low levels for the area.
A cold weather advisory will be active from 10 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday, with Hampton and Screven Counties under an extreme cold watch during this timeframe. Morning lows in the low 20s will feel between 5-15°F due to strong northerly winds.
It’s crucial to safeguard the Four P’s: shield or bring indoors vulnerable plants, insulate outdoor pipes—especially if using well water—and ensure pets are sheltered from the harsh elements. Limit exposure to cold and moisture. If venturing outside on Monday, wear layers including hats and gloves, especially for children. Check on neighbors and confirm that your home heating system is sufficient.
Monday itself will be cold the entire day, with highs only warming into the low 40s. Monday night into Tuesday will be frigid with lows in the 20s again. Calm winds will make the wind chill situation more manageable, but it will be another hard freeze, so the Four P’s need to be taken care of again.
Tuesday brings a milder day with highs in the 50s. Wednesday morning has the potential to bring a freeze again for most inland areas, but this will be the final morning with temperatures below average. A warm-up takes place through the middle and end of the week as high pressure takes control. A warmer and more humid pattern settles in with afternoons back in the 70s.
