SAVANNAH, Ga. – This morning greets us with a noticeable chill in the air, as temperatures have plummeted approximately 20 degrees compared to yesterday. Most regions are experiencing early readings in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Although the day promises ample sunshine, the brisk conditions will persist, with afternoon highs only managing to climb into the low to mid-50s—significantly below the seasonal norm by about 20 degrees. Keep in mind, the gusty winds, reaching up to 30 mph, will enhance the cold feel, so be sure to layer up if venturing outdoors.
Tonight, the mercury is set to drop further, courtesy of the cold front that swept in yesterday. Expect lows in the upper 20s, and combined with persistent winds, wind chill factors could plunge into the teens for some locales. A Freeze Warning has been issued for the entire region from tonight through tomorrow morning. Tomorrow morning has been declared a Weather Aware Day due to the anticipated widespread freeze. It’s advisable to allocate extra time for de-icing your vehicle before stepping out. Additionally, a Cold Weather Advisory is in place for inland Georgia and South Carolina as wind chills are expected to hover in the teens and 20s.

As we brace for the season’s first freeze, it’s essential to keep in mind the Four Ps: People, Pets, Plants, and Pipes. These guidelines are crucial for safeguarding against the cold snap.
- People: Dress in warm layers and check on neighbors.
- Pipes: Let faucets drip and keep cabinet doors open.
- Pets: Bring them inside and keep them out of the cold.
- Plants: Cover or move sensitive plants indoors.
There’s a chance we could set a new record low temperature tomorrow, potentially breaking the 31° mark set back in 1968. Wednesday may flirt with record lows as well.

Tomorrow is expected to be the chilliest day of the week, with temperatures peaking in the upper 40s to lower 50s. If you’re planning to attend the Veterans Day parade, ensure you’re bundled up in layers. Another frosty night is possible tomorrow, with temperatures again nearing freezing, but it won’t be as bitterly cold as it will be tonight. Wednesday morning remains under a Weather Aware Day. However, by Wednesday afternoon, temperatures should begin to rebound, climbing into the mid-60s. As we look towards late week and the upcoming weekend, anticipate a return to more typical conditions with highs in the low to mid-70s, accompanied by continued sunshine.
