Firefighters save veteran’s service flag in Ashmore house fire

ASHMORE, Ill. (WCIA) — In the early hours of Veteran’s Day, a devastating fire consumed a home in Ashmore, belonging to a Navy veteran. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and firefighters managed to rescue an item of significant sentimental value for the homeowner.

The house was owned by David Huffman, a veteran who proudly served four years aboard the U.S.S. Koelsh.
