TUCSON, Ariz. (WFLA) — A SWAT team is actively searching for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, in a developing situation.
Currently, details regarding Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts or how she is involved remain unclear.
According to NewsNation, law enforcement instructed a man and a woman to leave a residence in a Pima County neighborhood close to the home of the 84-year-old Guthrie. KVOA reported that this area is known as the Shadow Hills neighborhood.
Additionally, video footage captured a traffic stop, which is thought to be related to the ongoing police operation.
NewsNation reported that two people were detained from the house, and a third was detained during the stop. Detainments are not the same as arrests.
Law enforcement officers have reportedly blocked off an area about 1.9 miles away from the victim’s house. A forensic vehicle was spotted entering the perimeter, but left shortly after.
According to KVOA, the Sahuarita Police Department and Oro Valley Police Department are at the scene. NewsNation’s Brian Entin also reported that the media are being moved after “a ton of FBI arrived.”
Neighbor Peter Molk said he lived right across the street from the perimeter and that the situation is making residents nervous.
“You know, it’s unbelievably absurd,” Molk said. “It’s making everybody nervous. It’s. It’s just surreal. And we just can’t imagine how the family is processing all this. You know, as a neighbor, as a person that lives in the community, you know, we just wanted to resolve, you know, for the positive.”
There is no press conference planned at this time, but a written statement is expected in the case.
