Verdict reached in Statesboro double homicide trial

STATESBORO, Ga. — In a significant legal development on Thursday, a jury in Statesboro reached a verdict and imposed a sentence in a trial involving a double murder.

Kentaevious Davis was convicted on all counts related to the fatal shootings of Christopher Joyce and Jamaryce Mincey, which occurred on February 29, 2024.

The charges against Davis included two counts each of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.

Following his conviction, Davis received a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Throughout the trial, eyewitnesses testified to seeing Davis at the scene of the crime, specifically at the Days Inn motel.

On day three of the trial, testimony was heard from witnesses who reportedly shared the hotel room with Davis and the two victims.
