GROVETOWN, Ga. () – The outcome of the special election for the Columbia County commission’s District 2 seat has been determined, with Republican Jim Steed emerging victorious.

As Steed basked in the success of his campaign, a key issue capturing community attention was the planned development of a new data center.

“I seek facts, not conjecture. My decisions will be grounded in evidence, not guesswork,” Steed emphasized. “As a resident, I’ve only heard what’s circulated. Once in office, I intend to thoroughly investigate whether the project will benefit Columbia County. If it proves advantageous, I’ll support it; if detrimental, I’ll oppose it. The welfare of Columbia County and its citizens is my priority.”

Furthermore, Steed is committed to addressing the challenges faced by those on fixed incomes, aiming to reduce their tax burdens.
