LAKE FOREST, Ill. — In a significant move, wide receiver DJ Moore has been traded to the Buffalo Bills, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

For weeks, speculation has been rife among Chicago Bears fans, especially after Bears’ General Manager Ryan Poles hinted at the possibility of Moore being traded due to the team’s salary cap considerations.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport has revealed that in exchange, the Bears will receive a mid-round draft pick, although specific details have yet to be disclosed.

Moore has been a steadfast presence for the Bears, participating in all 51 games from 2023 to 2025, showcasing his durability and consistent performance.

This trade provides the Bears with significant salary cap relief, as the Bills will assume Moore’s entire $24.5 million cap hit.

The Bears will now be cap compliant after saving around $10,000,000 in cap space space after Drew Dalman’s retirement, according to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin on ESPN 1000 Thursday morning.

It won’t be processed until the new league year begins next Wednesday.

With fellow wide receiver Luther Burden and tight end Colston Loveland having breakout rookie years, Moore was targeted far less (85 in ’25 compared to 140 in ’24) but pushed his average yards per play higher (13.6 in ’25 compared to 9.9 in ’24).

The 28-year-old, who was brought over in a mega-deal for the Bears’ first-overall pick, reunites with his former Carolina offensive coordinator in Buffalo, Joe Brady.

This story will be updated.
