JASPER COUNTY, S.C. — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a suspect on Tuesday, linking him to an August shooting incident after forensics tied shell casings to his weapon.

Nygel Quron King faces charges related to a shooting that took place on August 26 on Miranda Drive, where multiple shots were fired at a residence.

At the crime scene, deputies collected 10mm shell casings along with DNA samples, essential pieces of evidence in the investigation.

King was initially taken into custody on August 30 for drug-related offenses during a routine traffic stop. During the arrest, authorities found a 10mm Glock handgun in his possession. While he denied any involvement in the shooting, he did admit ownership of the firearm.

Subsequent testing by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) confirmed that the shell casings from the scene matched King’s gun.

King was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and discharging firearms into a dwelling.
