Brevard County, Fla. – In a decisive move to enhance road safety, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey has delivered on his promise to intensify enforcement along Interstate 95. This week, the sheriff’s office announced a significant issuance of traffic citations.
According to Sheriff Ivey, the enforcement initiative, named “This is the Only Warning You’re Getting,” was launched in response to a surge in traffic-related fatalities during the recent holiday period.
On the campaign’s first day alone, law enforcement officers issued over 100 tickets, with the majority being for speeding violations.

As the crackdown continued throughout the week, deputies reported a total of nearly 400 tickets by week’s end, underscoring their commitment to road safety.
The initiative also involved four arrests: one for alleged aggravated battery, and another four involving illegal immigrants.
“384 very costly souvenirs for those who couldn’t obey the traffic laws on I-95 in Brevard County!!” the sheriff’s office announced. “Our goal is to make sure you arrive alive on I-95!!”
During a news briefing earlier in the week, Ivey said that his agency is working with the FHP to catch people driving dangerously.
“Our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Motor Unit, Florida Highway Patrol, will not only be a constant presence along I-95, but will also be writing citations for any and all violations observed,” Ivey added. “No more warnings. No more excuses.”
Some of the violations that Ivey listed were as follows:
-
Excessive speed
-
Improper lane change
-
Following too closely
-
Seatbelt violations
-
Distracted driving
Ivey also said that anyone spotted committing criminal violations will be “taken straight to jail.”
“This is the only warning you’re getting,” Ivey stated. “And by the way, to anyone driving to our county from out of state or out of area, this warning goes for you, too.”
