BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) – Bristol Rhythm AFC has triumphantly completed their season without a single loss, achieving an impressive record of 9 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw. This accomplishment has earned them the title of Southeastern Conference Champions in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
On Saturday, they secured a convincing 4-1 victory over the 865 Alliance from Knoxville, Tennessee, right in their hometown of Bristol, Va. This win sets the stage for Bristol Rhythm to host their upcoming National Playoffs match next Saturday at the Gene Malcolm Stadium.
An enthusiastic supporter of the team, Liesa Jenkins, who hails from Washington County, Va., has not missed a single home game. Jenkins, who developed a passion for soccer during her time at King University, is now a familiar face in the crowd, cheering on Bristol Rhythm AFC at every match.
In a conversation with News Channel 11, Jenkins expressed how the team positively impacts the region.
“I think it’s awesome our community has a soccer team,” Jenkins remarked.
Jenkins said that having a team like the Rhythm is not only a benefit to the community but is a model for young people. She added that even those from out of the country become a part of the community.
“They’re somebody our community can be proud of and get behind,” Jenkins said. “I love that aspect of it, that it’s really a team that is both local and global.”
Bristol Rhythm AFC won’t be heading to the next round without their support either.
“As far as they go, we’ll be here supporting them,” Jenkins said.
