BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. () — Residents of Pulaski Pointe in Bulloch County are still seeking solutions two months after an unnamed November storm caused severe flooding in their neighborhood.

“There’s just nothing being done,” resident Debra Anderson said. “I feel like we’re sitting on a time bomb.”

The storm caused water from a nearby creek to overflow, putting homes underwater and leaving residents afraid of future rain.

“You kinda sit and worry every time rain is coming,” a resident said. “You always check and find out how much rain is predicted… I dont know that it’s gonna take 10 or 12 inches to flood us again.”

Residents hoped for immediate action from the county to prevent future flooding, but they said no changes have been made.

“The county itself has been worthless to us,” resident Dan Steptoe said. “We just want some help.”

County engineer Brad Deal says they’ve been out to the neighborhood but says most of the work that needs to be done is on private property, limiting what the county can do.

“Normally the only time we do work on private property would be in an emergency where emergency services can’t get access to somebody,” Deal said.

He told News 3 Pulaski Pointe sits in a floodplain, which typically remains dry, but this hurricane season was different.

“We had two storms that fall into the range of what would be considered a 2-500 year storm event so that’s very atypical type of storms so it definitely went beyond the normal rainfall that we see,” said Deal.

The county engineer added that they are working with the Army Corps of Engineers to identify other solutions and expect to meet in the coming weeks.
