BVPD Crackdown: 19 Arrested and 11 Felony Charges Filed in Major Two-Day Operation

In a concerted effort to curb crime in Bristol, Virginia, the local police department recently wrapped up a focused enforcement initiative that spanned two days and led to significant outcomes. The operation, which took place on October 15th and 16th, saw the collaboration of the Bristol, Virginia Police Department (BVPD) with the Virginia State Police (VSP), as well as the sheriff’s offices of Washington and Russell counties.

During this intensive operation, officers successfully apprehended 19 individuals and handed out 37 citations, marking a substantial impact on local criminal activity. According to the BVPD, the coordinated effort specifically aimed at identifying and deterring criminal behavior within the city, which also resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs.

The police department’s report highlighted the successful seizure of methamphetamine and cocaine, underscoring the effectiveness of the operation in targeting illicit drug trafficking. The initiative reflects a proactive stance by the BVPD and its partners to maintain public safety and combat the spread of illegal substances in the community.

The release said police found and seized a quantity of methamphetamine and a quantity of cocaine.

“The safety of Bristol residents is our top priority,” BVPD Criminal Investigations Division Capt. Steven Crawford said. “This collaboration with our partners, the Virginia State Police, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Russell County Sheriff’s Office demonstrates the commitment we all share to addressing criminal activity, particularly the distribution of illegal drugs, right here in the City of Bristol.”
