A woman from California, determined to find her ideal partner, has sparked a wave of interest by launching a unique billboard campaign. Men from as far away as Brazil have shown interest in becoming her future husband.
Lisa Catalano, the mastermind behind the eye-catching “Marry Lisa” billboards along Highway 101 in the Bay Area, shared her quest for love with Nexstar’s KRON.
“I simply want to meet someone special,” she expressed. “I haven’t had much luck through other methods.”
The billboards, strategically placed between Santa Clara and San Francisco, have not only caught the public’s attention but also piqued curiosity. Catalano revealed to NewsNation that she received over 3,800 applications from September 24 to October 15.
Despite the overwhelming response, Catalano noted that many applicants aren’t pursuing marriage or starting a family, priorities she considers crucial.
On her website, marrylisa.com, Catalano has been very specific about the kind of man she’s looking for: someone between their 30s and 50s in age. Unfortunately, she said a lot of the men who are applying are in their 20s, 60s, or 70s, which is another dealbreaker for her.
Catalano was previously engaged to a long-term boyfriend, but tragedy struck when he passed away from a terminal illness in late 2023.
Catalano shared recent analytics for her website with KRON. On a single day, she received over 27,000 unique visitors to marrylisa.com and over 127,000 page views. All that interest, she said, has led to about 350 applications from eligible men who meet her criteria.
At last report, she’s still working her way through reviewing their applications.
“I hope that this is a great story that we can tell our future children,” she said.
