BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — Bristol, Virginia Fire Chief Mark Armstrong said the Virginia Task Force 4 (VA-TF4) is on the ground at Camp Mystic in Kerrville, Texas, helping to locate several missing people.

Armstrong said crew members have described the area near the church camp as “widespread destruction and simply unbelievable.”

He said crews are searching through large piles of debris to help locate the missing flood victims, as there are still “several” people unaccounted for.

Armstrong said the Bristol team is currently working with a search and rescue team from Missouri.

The Bristol, Virginia, Fire Department anticipates that the VA-TF4 will be in Texas for “several days.”

“When we’re looking to answer that call that Texas put out, they’re asking for help, and we want to do that as quickly as possible,” Armstrong told News Channel 11 on Monday.
