CASTLEWOOD, Va. (WJHL) — A Castlewood man was convicted by a jury on multiple counts of sodomy, sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child Thursday.

According to a news release from the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney in Russell County, Mickey Douglas Meade, Jr. was found guilty after a two-day trial.

Meade, 37, reportedly sexually abused a child multiple times over four years.

“We are grateful the jury reached the right result and held the defendant responsible for these horrific unjust acts against an innocent child,” Commonwealth Attorney Zack Stoots said in the release. “My office will be seeking the maximum penalty allowed by law.”

In total, Meade was found guilty of three counts of sodomy, five counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of indecent liberties of a child.

Meade will remain in jail, the release stated. His sentencing is set for May 29 at 1 p.m.

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and the Care Center of Southwest Virginia investigated the case.
