AUGUSTA, Ga () – The eyes of millions around the world are on Pope Francis who is reported to be in critical condition.
Pope Francis has been in the hospital for a week with a complex lung infection.
Officials say the 88-year old’s main threat would be the onset of sepsis, an infection of the blood that is an effect from a complication of pneumonia.
Rachel Balducci, a member of The Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity, says, “The most recent updates I’m just very concerned that he’s struggling, and it sounds like he’s in some pain, it just makes me sad to think of him suffering.”
The Vatican did still celebrate its Holy Year without the Pope in attendance.
Those in attendance on Sunday said the church will continue to keep him in their daily thoughts and prayers.
“We prayed for him during the prayers of the faithful today, I noticed, especially because the popes on my ming a lot right now, we pray for the pope every day during mass, every week, so we’re always lifting him up in prayer but today, especially during the prayers of the faithful father mentioned him.” Balducci says.
She says it is in God’s hands, “I can tell with my catholic friends it’s something that is on our minds, we’re praying, we’re checking the news, we’re concerned, we know he’s on God’s radar, he’s in God’s hands, but it’s definitely something that we’re aware of and watching to see how he’s doing.”
Recent reports say he has received high flows of oxygen and had a peaceful rest Saturday night.
