Centennial wins Capitol City Classic boys' track meet

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) – Lanphier High School was the host for the Capitol City Classic at Memorial Stadium in Springfield on Saturday.

14 teams, including nine from the WCIA 3 viewing area, competed in the boys’ track meet.

Centennial won the team score with 132 points. Springfield scored 83 to finish second while Rochester rounded out the podium with 70.33 points.

Individual winners from WCIA area:

  • 4×800 meter relay: Springfield, 8:10.46
  • 4×100 meter relay: Centennial, 42.91
  • 110 hurdles: Parker Campbell (Lincoln), 14.61
  • 100 meter dash: Josiah Brown (Centennial), 11.09
  • 4×200 meter relay: Springfield, 1:28.47
  • 400 meter: Eli Duma (Centennial), 51.44
  • 300 hurdles: Parker Campbell (Lincoln), 41.20
  • 200 meter dash: Ray Chappel (Centennial), 23.49
  • 4×400 meter relay: Springfield, 3:25.24
  • High jump: Voldy Makabu (Centennial), 6 feet, 6 inches
  • Pole vault: Jack Stanton (Rochester), 13 feet
  • Long jump: Tristan Stanton (Rochester), 21 feet, 9 inches
  • Triple jump: Kamri Sales (Springfield Southeast), 44 feet, 11 inches
