ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is currently experiencing a significant heatwave, with temperatures continuing to climb.
The region is witnessing consecutive days of unprecedented warmth, marking the hottest period since early November.
Afternoon temperatures are surging well beyond the usual 76 degrees, with many areas reaching into the mid to upper 80s.
The forecast for Friday suggests temperatures may challenge existing records across the area:
-
Orlando: Predicted high of 87° | Previous record 89° (set in 1988)
-
Sanford: Forecast 87° | Record 86° (set in 2019)
-
Daytona Beach: Forecast 84° | Record 85° (set in 1988)
-
Leesburg: Forecast 87° | Record 86° (set in 2018)
The added heat will dry out soils and vegetation even faster, keeping fire danger high as drought conditions worsen across the region.
Saturday stays just as hot, if not hotter. Orlando is forecast to hit 88 degrees, setting the stage for Saturday to likely become the warmest day of the year so far.
Saturday’s forecast highs vs records:
-
Orlando: Forecast 88° | Record 88° (set in 1989)
-
Sanford: Forecast 87° | Record 87° (set in 2003)
-
Daytona Beach: Forecast 84° | Record 87° (set in 1989)
-
Leesburg: Forecast 87° | Record 87° (set in 2018)
While it will be feeling more like spring over the next few days, we will be rewinding back to winter soon.
