LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WCIA) — Thirty standout players from the Prospect League were chosen to showcase their skills at the annual All-Star Game, including five talents from Central Illinois.
The Lafayette Aviators had the honor of hosting the event, which featured players from each of the league’s 20 teams.
Representing Team West, Illinois second baseman Lucas Krebs from the Burlington Bees and Windsor native Graham Kasey, a pitcher for UIS playing with the Normal CornBelters, took the field.
Kasey expressed his excitement about being selected, saying, “Playing in this league for my fourth year, it’s great to finally make it here. I’ve had strong seasons before but wasn’t selected, so it feels fantastic to eventually be part of this.”
Joining them on Team East were UIS pitcher Nathan Trimble from Shelbyville, Champaign’s own Sam McArthur, and EIU pitcher Nolan Decker, contributing to a competitive lineup.
“This was my goal because I knew I probably wouldn’t go the whole season, so this was really big for me and it was my goal and I got it,” said Trimble. “So I was really excited.”
Team East got the 4-3 win, but Prospect League play continues through the beginning of August.
