WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. () – The CEO of Washington County Regional Medical Center has issued a statement regarding potential impacts from Medicaid cuts.

“WCRMC values transparency and appreciates the questions that we’ve received recently regarding the impact federal Medicaid cuts associated with the Big Beautiful Bill will have on our hospital.

“There are several lists online and in the media, some of which indicate our hospital ‘may be in danger of closing’ due to these cuts. While these reports may raise concern, we want to reassure you: Washington County Regional Medical Center is financially solid and in no danger of closing.

“Over the past three years, we’ve made significant strides in strengthening our financial foundation—bolstered by growing revenues, the expansion of new services, and our valuable partnerships with Aletheia Health Partners and Washington County Commissioners. These efforts reflect our commitment to long-term stability and high-quality care.

“We’re proud of our progress. Just recently, we broke ground on a new Emergency Department, scheduled to open next spring. This is one of many positive developments underway that reflect our commitment to growth and service excellence.

“It’s important to recognize that many government and media reports use broad, collective data when assessing rural hospitals. These generalizations don’t always reflect the unique financial realities of individual institutions like ours.

“Most importantly, remember: Healthcare Happens Here—right in your community, with a hospital that’s stable, growing, and here to stay. As always, we welcome your questions and continued interest in your local hospital.”
