Man arraigned on bank robbery, fleeing charges after Champaign Co. crash

A 32-year-old man is now facing the possibility of up to 15 years in prison after being apprehended on Monday for a bank heist followed by a high-speed chase in Champaign County, Illinois.

During a court session on Wednesday at the Champaign County Courthouse, Judge Brett M. Olmstead oversaw the arraignment of Caleb Estabrook, where the charges against him were officially presented.

  • One count of financial institution robbery — threat of force, a Class 1 felony
    • Punishable by 4-15 years in prison
  • One count of robbery, a Class 2 felony
    • Punishable by 3-7 years in prison, 12 months of parole, a fine of $25,000 or restitution of financial loss and probation or conditional discharge of 48 months (maximum)
  • One count of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, traveling at least 21 miles per hour over the speed limit, a Class 4 felony
    • Punishable by 1-3 years in prison, six months of parole, a fine of $25,000 or restitution and 30 months of probation
