Champaign Co. EMA preparing houses of worship for worst case scenarios

The Champaign County Emergency Management Agency in Urbana, Illinois, recently conducted a specialized training session aimed at equipping places of worship with essential emergency preparedness skills.

John Dwyer, the agency’s coordinator, explained that the training encompassed a variety of critical topics. These included active shooter response strategies, emergency bleeding control using tourniquets, and protocols for severe weather situations.

Dwyer emphasized the significance of such preparedness, noting that secure worship environments contribute significantly to the overall peace of mind within communities.
