CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — In the early hours of Sunday, the Champaign Police Department found itself delving into a series of overnight shootings, with minimal information at hand. They are now reaching out to the community, urging anyone with knowledge to come forward.

The first alarming report surfaced shortly before 2 a.m., when a 17-year-old male arrived at a local hospital, transported privately, suffering from a severe gunshot wound to the abdomen. In a Sunday morning statement, Lieutenant Aaron Lack noted that the teenager was shot while walking along the 2000 block of Moreland Boulevard. Thankfully, despite the critical nature of his injury, he is currently stable under medical care.
