CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Gas prices have been a hot topic lately, capturing attention both nationally and locally as averages remain above $4 across the United States and in Illinois.

However, Champaign County drivers are enjoying a slight reprieve, with Monday’s average price reported by AAA at $3.90 per gallon.

Motorists in the area are feeling fortunate to be paying a bit less at the pump compared to the state and national average.

“I’ve noticed the prices climb, and then thankfully start to drop again,” shared Champaign resident Josanee White. “Reaching $4 and above feels overwhelming, so it’s a relief to see them come down.”
