CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Champaign has created a new website — meant to help community members learn about events and activities happening in the new Downtown Plaza.

And, along with the city’s summer programming, two new weekly entertainment events are gearing up for the season.

Sound Bites will take place each Thursday from 11:30 to 1 p.m. During the lunchtime concert series, attendees will be able to grab lunch from their favorite restaurants in the downtown area, while also listening to live music.

And each Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m., live music will take center stage during the Champaign Farmers Market. The city said Rhythm and Roots will expand the farmers market, along with a new Kids Corner (featuring games, puzzles, hair braiding and other activities). During the farmers market, the city also said the Downtown Plaza will be a Downtown Festival District. This will allow adults to purchase alcoholic beverages from businesses around the area.

You can find more information about the events taking place at the Downtown Plaza here.
