FAIRBURY, Ill. (WCIA) — A man was taken into custody by the Fairbury Police Department for “sexual crimes against a child” on Saturday.
47-year-old Dustin Cota from Wisconsin was taken into custody Feb. 15 after the Fairbury Police, a member of the CHAOS Task Force, completed their investigation.
Cota had been communicating with a minor under 15, according to police. Throughout the investigation, he had sent Valentines Day gifts, made arrangements to meet the child for “sexual purposes” and drove 198 miles to meet the child in Forrest.
The Fairbury Police determined that Cota is a sex offender in the state of Wisconsin. Cota was taken into custody for indecent solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a child.
The CHAOS Task Force also reminds the public that all subjects are innocent until proven guilty.
