SAVANNNAH, Ga. () — The Chatham County District Attorney’s Office will hold a class for citizens to learn about responsible gun ownership and self-defense.

These courses will be part of DA Shalena Cook Jones’ Survivors Series, recognizing victims of violent crimes. Both will be held at Savannah Tech’s Eckburg Auditorium, located on 5717 White Bluff Rd.
The gun safety course will be held at Savannah Tech on Thursday, April 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Trained professionals will work with registered attendees with proper self-defense techniques as well as maintenance and storage techniques.
The DA’s Office is partnering with Project Childsafe to provide educational materials for families to be responsible gunowners. A free gunlock for registered attendees will also be provided.
The office will also hold a self-defense course without the use of firearms for registered attendees on Wednesday, April 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Trained professionals will teach hands-on techniques that women should be aware of when alone, especially at night.
