Chatham County Man Faces Indictment for Dual Shooting Incidents and Armed Robbery

In Savannah, Georgia, legal proceedings took a significant step forward as a 20-year-old involved in a 2024 shooting case was officially indicted by Chatham County on Wednesday.

The individual in question, James Alvin Ellison, faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony, as detailed in the court papers.

Ellison allegedly committed the shooting, which resulted in a victim being injured in the left shoulder, when he was 18 years old, on August 16, 2024.

He was granted conditional release on January 29, 2026, by posting a $50,000 bond and agreeing to wear an ankle monitor.

Furthermore, Ellison was also indicted on February 11, 2026, for his involvement in a different shooting incident. This separate case accuses him of discharging a firearm at another individual on November 17, 2025.

In the Nov. 17, 2025, incident, he was charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage of property and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Ellison is also charged with armed robbery from a separate incident. The alleged armed robbery occurred on Nov. 9, 2024, and he was indicted on the charge Feb. 11, 2026.

He was denied bond in the armed robbery case, according to an order filed on Dec. 16, 2025.

Ellison was arrested for the crime 11 days later while being treated for an unrelated gunshot wound, his denial order said.
