CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. — In a decisive move, Chatham County Sheriff Richard Coleman announced the county’s most sought-after fugitive on Tuesday night, delivering a stern message that evading the law is not an option.
Authorities have identified Meshawn Shamar Richardson as a suspect in a series of burglaries, attracting the attention of both local law enforcement and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Richardson is wanted on federal charges, while the county seeks to apprehend him on felony charges.

Sheriff Coleman acknowledged that Richardson has so far managed to stay one step ahead of the authorities. Last week, searches were conducted in the areas of Montgomery Landings and Westlake in an attempt to locate him.
Expressing his determination during a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday, Coleman declared, “I’ll get you if it’s the last thing I do on Earth.”
While conducting a vehicle search at Westlake following a tip-off about Richardson’s whereabouts, deputies discovered a significant quantity of drugs, which Coleman described as “enough dope to supply the whole West Chatham County.”
“You led us right to the dope Meshawn,” the sheriff said. “…Thanks to brother Meshawn we got pounds of dope off the street…Back to you being a suspect villain.”

Coleman said Richardson wore a disguise to escape deputies at Westlake and gave residents a demonstration of what he was dressed like. The sheriff said the “street OG” wore a wig, shades and a hat to escape.
“You will not victimize anybody else in this in county,” he said. “Do you understand me? Matter fact, everybody that’s listening, check your pockets, I’m calling his name. I might have something missing out of my pockets, I’m calling his name too much.”
Richardson allegedly jumped out of the car and ran from law enforcement in two instances, once with Savannah Police and once with county deputies.
Coleman said that he is “on his neck” and will continue to be until Richardson is arrested.
