BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — A man was found with fentanyl pills and powder in Bristol, Virginia, after a multi-agency investigation, according to the Bristol, Virginia Police Department.

Authorities arrested Jermaine Clayton, 20, of Chattanooga on Monday.

Clayton was found with more than 2,000 fentanyl pills and around 60 grams of fentanyl powder, which were brought to Bristol, Virginia, according to the police department.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $40,000 to $50,000, the police department said.

“The street value of these narcotics represents more than just money; it represents thousands of potential doses that could have caused harm or taken lives. This operation has undoubtedly saved lives in our community,” Chief D. Byron Ashbrook said in a release.

Clayton was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug. Additional charges are pending.

Clayton was taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail at Abingdon, where he is being held without bond.

The investigation involved the Bristol, Virginia Police Department’s Vice/Narcotics Unit; Smyth County Sheriff’s Office; Washington County, Virginia Sheriff’s Office; Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA); and the FBI.
