ASHBURN, Ga. (WRBL) — A tragic encounter involving law enforcement resulted in the death of a Cordele resident on Wednesday, prompting an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The GBI reports that 25-year-old Larunce Glee was fatally shot during a traffic stop near North Street in Ashburn.
Authorities detailed that on March 4, 2026, around 2:40 p.m., an officer from the Ashburn Police Department pulled over a vehicle. The stop was initiated because two children were reportedly inside the vehicle without proper child restraint seats. During this stop, the driver identified as 25-year-old Kabrion Young, attempted to flee from the officer.

As the situation escalated, a physical struggle ensued between Young and the officer. Reinforcements arrived, and the officer used a taser on Young, leading to his subsequent arrest.
The officers then requested Larunce Glee, a passenger in the vehicle, to step out. Glee allegedly resisted instructions and engaged in a confrontation with the officers.
According to authorities, once officers tried to gain control, Glee attempted to pull a firearm from his waistband and one of the officers shot Glee.
Glee was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
There were three additional passengers in the vehicle, including one adult and two children who were not injured during the incident.
At the request of the Ashburn Police Department, the investigation was handed off to the GBI. Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the Tift Judicial District Attorney’s Office for review.
