SAVANNAH, Ga. — As night falls, the rain that has been persistent throughout the day is expected to taper off, ushering in a noticeably cooler week ahead.

This afternoon saw the development of showers and a few storms that carried into the early evening hours. The most intense rainfall was concentrated along the I-95 corridor, while other regions experienced only light precipitation.

A particularly fierce cluster of storms stole the spotlight, bringing with it frequent lightning, torrential downpours, and strong winds that swept across the Lowcountry, leaving a dramatic mark on the area.

As we move into Sunday night, the possibility of isolated showers remains. However, we can look forward to a respite from the rain as dry conditions are expected to settle in shortly afterward.

Isolated showers linger through portions of Sunday night before we find some dry time.

A cold front will bring a cooler day Monday and breezy northeasterly winds.

Some lingering moisture looks to flare up, bringing isolated light rain showers at times Monday through early Tuesday.

Cooler air works in through midweek, bringing morning lows in the 50s and highs only in the 60s and 70s.

A coastal low developing south of our area will reinforce northeast winds midweek and bring opportunities for light showers late Wednesday through early Friday.
