TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Taylorville Police Department arrested a man wanted for aggravated battery and assault in another county on Friday.

The police department said they were receiving leads for 35-year-old Brent L. Musser of Moweaqua. Musser was wanted with a full extradition warrant for aggravated battery (strangulation) and assault in another county, officials added.

Based on the tips the police department received, they conducted surveillance in the area of Cherokee Street. Eventually, Musser arrived and officers took him into custody without incident.

Musser was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, between five-15 grams, police said.

“We are grateful for the assistance of our citizens who continue to support law enforcement in keeping our community safe. Crime reduction is possible because of the strong partnership between the community and the police department,” the Taylorville Police Department said in a statement.

They added that all subjects are believed to be innocent until proven guilty.
