CLINTON, Ill. (WCIA) — An early Monday morning witnessed the Clinton Board of Education settling on a separation agreement with the district’s superintendent.
As per a statement from the district, Superintendent Drew Goebel will be on paid administrative leave until the end of the 2026-2027 academic year. This arrangement marks the conclusion of his official “contractual relationship” with the district by the close of the forthcoming school year.
The district conveyed that the decision was mutual, acknowledging it was in their best interest to embark on separate journeys. They expressed gratitude for Mr. Goebel’s fifteen years of devoted service and extended their well-wishes for his future successes.
While the district’s press release did not elaborate further on the specifics of the separation agreement, WCIA has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in a bid to obtain more details.
Goebel joined Clinton Community Unit School District No. 15 in 2011 as the Assistant Principal of Clinton Junior High School. During his time with the district, he also served as principal, assistant superintendent, chief financial officer and superintendent.
WCIA reached out to Goebel for additional comment, but did not immediately hear back. In the provided news release, however, he expressed his “sincere gratitude” to the students, families, staff, administrators and the Clinton community for the opportunity to serve the district. Goebel added that he wishes the district, its students, staff and community “continued success.”
